Best Missed Call Text Back Software for Contractors
8 tools that text a caller you couldn't pick up for: how each one does it, who replies after the first text, and what it costs. Every competitor fact is taken from that company's own site.

Full disclosure: SeenOnMain wrote this page and is one of the 8 tools on it, so we're listed first and marked. Every other tool's details come from its own website, checked October 2026. Where a site didn't say something, we say so. No ratings or review counts were invented for anyone, us included.
What each one costs
Short answer: Recoverly ($14.99) and Quo ($19 per user) publish the lowest starting prices, then TextBack ($79), GoHighLevel ($97) and SeenOnMain Starter ($99). Podium doesn't publish a price.
| Tool | Published starting price | What that covers |
|---|---|---|
| Recoverly | From $14.99/month | Website plan; Complete plan is $34.99. How missed callers are contacted isn't stated. |
| Quo | From $19/user/month | Business phone system with missed-call auto-replies on every plan ($15/user billed yearly). |
| TextBack | $79/month | Text-back inbox, 300 outbound texts and up to 600 recovery calls a month. |
| GoHighLevel | From $97/month | All-in-one CRM with a built-in missed call text back setting. |
| SeenOnMain Starter | $99/month | Consent-based text-back on its own business line, instant call and text alerts for web leads, and 14 days of follow-up emails. |
| Jobber | From $49/month + $29 Receptionist | Field service software; the AI Receptionist add-on handles calls and texts. |
| Housecall Pro | From $79/month + CSR AI (unpriced) | Field service software; CSR AI answers calls and chats. |
| Podium | Not published | Automatic missed-call text, with the AI Employee add-on continuing the conversation. |
Each tool's own published prices, checked October 2026, before tax and usage. SeenOnMain's come from our pricing page.
Cheapest isn't the same as comparable: some of these send one pre-written reply, some let an AI carry on the conversation, and SeenOnMain sends one text only to callers who agreed to it and leaves the replies to you.
SeenOnMainThat's us
A trade business that wants the missed caller texted with their permission, and wants to do the talking itself. Web form leads ring your phone too.
- How the text-back works
- A dedicated toll-free business line rings your cell. Callers hear a short notice and press 1 to allow a text. If you miss the call, a caller who pressed 1 gets one text from your business; one who didn't gets nothing. Texts go out 8am to 8pm your time.
- Who replies after that
- You. Every reply after the first text is typed by you, not an AI.
- Pricing
- Text-back is on Starter and up: $99/month, published, with follow-up emails for 14 days. 14-day free trial, no card.
- Getting started
- Self-serve signup, and we set it up for you. You give customers the new number; it doesn't monitor your existing line.
GoHighLevel
A business, or the marketing agency running its marketing, that wants an all-in-one CRM and is willing to configure it.
- How the text-back works
- A built-in Missed Call Text Back setting sends a text you write when a call goes unanswered. Its help center notes it texts on every missed call, repeats included, unless you customize it in Workflows.
- Who replies after that
- Your team from its inbox, or automations you build
- Pricing
- $97, $297 or $497 a month (Starter, Unlimited, Agency Pro), 14-day free trial
- Getting started
- Self-serve trial; texting needs a number verified for SMS (A2P 10DLC or toll-free verification)
Podium
A business that wants an AI to keep texting with the missed caller until a person takes over.
- How the text-back works
- Its phones page says "When you miss a call, the customer will automatically get a text," and its AI Employee "will then keep the conversation going, any time of day or night."
- Who replies after that
- Podium's AI Employee (a paid add-on, per its pricing page), then your team
- Pricing
- Not published. Its pricing page says to talk to sales; AI Employee is an add-on to any plan.
- Getting started
- Demo or sales call to get a price
Quo (formerly OpenPhone)
A small team that wants a full business phone system, with a simple automatic reply to missed calls built in.
- How the text-back works
- Auto-replies on every plan "automatically respond to texts, missed calls, or voicemails with pre-defined messages."
- Who replies after that
- Your team, after the pre-written auto-reply
- Pricing
- $19, $33 or $47 per user a month billed monthly ($15, $23 or $35 billed yearly), 7-day free trial
- Getting started
- Self-serve signup
TextBack
A plumbing, HVAC or electrical owner who wants to keep their existing number and just add a text-back inbox.
- How the text-back works
- Unanswered calls forward to your TextBack number, where your carrier supports it, and the caller can choose to receive a text. Replies land in a follow-up inbox.
- Who replies after that
- You. Its AI texting is a preview; its site says live AI replies are not enabled yet.
- Pricing
- $79 a month, no setup fee or annual commitment (300 outbound texts, up to 600 recovery calls a month)
- Getting started
- Free interactive demo; no free trial of the paid plan is offered
Recoverly
A price-first owner who wants the lowest published monthly cost and to keep their existing number.
- How the text-back works
- Its site says it captures leads from missed calls and website visits "so you can follow up fast." It doesn't say how the missed caller is contacted.
- Who replies after that
- Not stated on its site
- Pricing
- $14.99 a month (Website) or $34.99 a month (Complete), 14-day free trial with a card required
- Getting started
- Self-serve signup with personal setup help
Jobber
A business already running on Jobber that wants an AI to handle calls and texts inside it.
- How the text-back works
- Its pricing page doesn't list a missed-call text-back feature. It offers an AI Receptionist that "provide[s] 24/7 customer service over call or text."
- Who replies after that
- Jobber's AI Receptionist, if added
- Pricing
- Receptionist is a $29/month add-on (included on Plus); plans start at $49 a month (Core), 14-day free trial
- Getting started
- Self-serve trial with no card
Housecall Pro
A business already on Housecall Pro that wants an AI answering calls rather than a text-back.
- How the text-back works
- Its pricing and features pages don't list a missed-call text-back feature. CSR AI is an add-on that "answers every call and chat, day or night."
- Who replies after that
- Housecall Pro's CSR AI, if added
- Pricing
- CSR AI price not listed (demo required); plans from $79 a month billed monthly, 14-day free trial with no card
- Getting started
- Self-serve trial; demo for CSR AI
Frequently asked questions
Missed call text back automatically sends a text to someone whose call to your business wasn't answered, so you can still reach them instead of losing them to voicemail. Some tools send a message you've written, some let an AI keep texting, and some, like SeenOnMain, send one text only to callers who agreed to it and leave the rest of the conversation to you.
It depends on who you want replying. If you want to keep the conversation yourself and text callers only with their permission, SeenOnMain fits ($99/month on Starter). If you want an AI to keep texting the caller, Podium's AI Employee does that. If you want the cheapest published price, Recoverly starts at $14.99 a month and Quo at $19 per user. If you already run your business on Jobber or Housecall Pro, their AI add-ons handle calls inside the software you use.
