Lead Response Time

What Is Lead Response Time?
Lead response time is the amount of time between when a potential customer contacts a business, by phone, form, or otherwise, and when the business first responds. It's one of the most cited factors in whether a sales inquiry actually turns into a paying customer.
Lead response time is usually measured in minutes for digital inquiries: a web form, a chat message, a quote request. For slower channels like email, it can be measured in hours or days. In most consumer-facing and local-service industries, shorter is better. A request that gets an immediate reply keeps the customer's attention and interest. A delayed reply gives them time to call a competitor, get distracted, or lose interest entirely.
What counts as "fast" varies by context. An emergency service call, a burst pipe, a no-heat call in winter, has a much tighter useful window, often minutes. A lower-urgency request like a landscaping quote is different: same-day is usually still competitive. Businesses that track this number closely tend to see it as a leading indicator of close rate. It's one of the few parts of the sales process that's entirely within a business's own control.

How this relates to SeenOnMain
SeenOnMain is built around shrinking this specific number. The moment a lead submits a form on a SeenOnMain mini-website, the business owner gets an instant text and a phone call, so response time is measured in seconds rather than however long it takes someone to notice a form submission or a voicemail.
Questions About Lead Response Time
What is lead response time?
Lead response time is the amount of time between when a potential customer contacts a business, by phone, form, or otherwise, and when the business first responds. Shorter response times are consistently linked to higher close rates.
How fast should a business respond to a lead?
Research from the 2007 MIT/InsideSales.com Lead Response Management study found the odds of reaching a lead are 100x higher when the callback happens within 5 minutes vs. 30 minutes, and InsideSales.com's 2021 analysis of 5.7 million inbound leads found conversion rates roughly 8x higher in the first five minutes. An emergency call (a burst pipe, a no-heat call) has a tighter useful window than a lower-urgency request like a landscaping quote, where same-day is usually still competitive.
Does SeenOnMain improve lead response time?
Yes. The moment a lead submits a form on a SeenOnMain mini-website, the business owner gets an instant text and a phone call, so response time is measured in seconds rather than however long it takes someone to notice a form submission or a voicemail.
