What happens when an electrical lead submits a form after hours?

For most electrical businesses, nothing happens differently at all. In our audit of 231 real electrical-business websites, 55.9% claim 24/7 or emergency availability somewhere on the site, but 39.4% of all the electrical businesses we looked at have no actual after-hours channel, no SMS option, no live chat, no AI assistant, just the same contact form that will sit there until someone checks it in the morning.

That's a real gap between the claim and the mechanism. "Emergency electrical service available 24/7" is copy on a page. What actually determines whether a late-night tripped breaker or a burning-smell-from-an-outlet lead gets a same-night response is whether anything on that page routes the submission somewhere that reaches a person outside business hours, and for the majority of electrical businesses we crawled, nothing does. The form still submits, the lead's information is still saved, but there's no automatic signal telling the owner it happened until they next check email.

The businesses that had closed this gap mostly did it with an SMS option (19.7% of electricians we crawled had one), which at least puts the alert somewhere a phone will actually surface it outside business hours. Live chat sat at just 0.9% of electrical sites, and AI assistants were rarer still: not one of the 213 electrical-business websites we crawled mentions AI at all.
